I bought my first house in SE PDX’s Ladd’s Addition 30 years ago for $57,000. One of the oldest neighborhoods west of the Mississippi, Ladd’s Addition has always been my favorite spot in the city thanks to the:
- Elm-covered streets lined with giant Craftsman bungalows and Foursquares
- Wide alleyways (a rarity!)
- Rose garden roundabouts
- And a pinwheel layout that makes it easy to get momentarily lost

But no matter where you pop out, there’s always something fun waiting:
- $6 matinees at Cinemagic
- Late night spaghetti at OK Omens
- Maple pecan French macarons at Farina Bakery
- Virtuous Pie featuring their plant-based October Special “Clam Chowder Pizza”
- Poutine from Potato Champion at Cartopia
- Late night dessert & espresso at Palio (in the middle of Ladd’s!)
- Plus, as parents + kids can attest, Abnernethy Elementary has a rare covered outdoor play space for year-round exercise/fun!
