Susie + Matt Know Backyard Entertaining

It’s easy to spend all of glorious Oregon summer outdoors but now that the rains are starting to tease, don’t let the change of seasons pull you inside. Enter: Covered, warm outdoor space. We’ve both recently spruced up our backyards and wanted to share some ideas for all budgets to make your own outdoor space a socially-distant destination!

Matt already had covered backyard space but after a bundled-up winter 2020 he wanted to raise the temperatures a bit to make it more of a year-round second living room. Little Baja on East Burnside saved the day, offering a range of ways to stay warm. Matt opted for a Baja Chiminea and once the burn ban ends, it’ll be fired up every evening and all of NFL Sundays (Go Hawks!) Little Baja has an awesome assortment of chimineas (ranging from $139-$299) and firepits (plus pottery, statuary and piñatas) to cover ALL of your backyard needs so that you can celebrate fall colors by fireside.

Susie’s backyard, on the other hand, already had the fireplace but was lacking a way to enjoy it during the rains. A quick search on Wayfair revealed loads of options of all sizes and she ended up with the perfect wood gazebo large enough to cover a seating area and dining table. For under $2,000, her year-round entertaining space has greatly expanded. Check out the gazebo action shots from a recent fundraiser!

Do you have an outdoor space you love? A front porch swing or backyard party pad? We’d love to feature your photos on a future blog! Send them to office@moranhomespdx.com with a brief description of why you love it or tips for others on how to recreate it!

Happy Fall from us to you!
