Susie Knows Beaumont-Wilshire

Beaumont-Wilshire is a destination neighborhood for Portland families. Located in the heart of northeast PDX, it’s just east of Alameda and north of the Grant Park and Hollywood neighborhoods. Fremont Avenue is the main thruway that bisects Wilshire (to the north) from Beaumont and is the commercial setting for one of our city’s most varied and abundant restaurant rows. (More on food in the next blog!) Many of the smaller bungalows of yesteryear remain in Beaumont alongside Tudors and Craftsmans. But developers have majorly revamped many of the homes in the past couple decades as evidenced by the larger homes in Wilshire. Beaumont-Wilshire residents are zoned for Portland’s triple crown of sought-after schools: Alameda Elementary, Beaumont Middle and Grant High. (And school bus ridership here is heart-warmingly high.) Throw in a quadruple crown of grocery stores (Beaumont Market, New Seasons and nearby Hollywood’s Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s) plus stunning views from the properties on Alameda Ridge and it’s easy to understand the pride of ownership in this historic neighborhood.
