Dog parks abound in Beaumont-Wilshire much to Duffy the Real Estate Dog’s delight. He enjoys the massive Fernhill Park and Grant Park but his current favorite is Wilshire Park. He enjoys plopping down in the readily available shade in this same place I took my kids when they were little. And times haven’t changed – the wonderful play structures are a continuous draw for families.
Beaumont-Wilshire is Very Walkable and Very Bikeable making lucky residents a quick jaunt from some of the city’s best food spots. My personal favorites are the Asian fusion of Smallwares and the fabulous Italian happy hour (featuring buffalo prawns!) on the patio at Amalfi’s. For a.m. dining check out Batter or the vegan-friendly Eclectic Kitchen or Grand Central Bakery or go on and get the sour cream coffee cake (!) at the Portland staple Jim & Patty’s Coffee. Other tasty Fremont stops include Daruma (Japanese), Tuk Tuk (Thai), Bang Bang (curry and cocktails), Noho’s Hawaiian Kitchen, Pip’s Donuts, Thrive, Fire on the Mountain (wings), and Cha Cha Cha. And if you’d rather just imbibe, you’ve got McPeet’s Pub (pictured), Bottles or the impressive selection at Blackbird Wine.
