The Dekum Triangle was once known to many as the Woodlawn neighborhood. Located in NE Portland with easy access to the 1-5 corridor. It was an exciting neighborhood in the 19th century, with a trolly that bustled through town, local general shops, a theater and more.
Through the years the neighborhood began to go downhill, but by 2007 it began to restore itself. A pizza shop went up, multiple breweries, cute boutiques and my favorite, Firehouse. The cute name goes along with their wood fire pizzas, as well as other Italian essentials served up. The atmosphere of this restaurant is enjoyable with an open kitchen, where you can see the pizzas being made. Imagine the smell of this place?! Yum! Be sure to check out their website to see stellar pictures of their food and menu.
The gentrification process started when people moved to the area and started fixing up their homes. Now it is one of the most popular micro cultural neighborhoods of Portland. A local favorite to many is the local grocer, P’s and Q’s,it feels like a European market with fresh produce, a fantastic deli and yummy pastries. It is also stocked with the staples we need daily!
