If you look around and notice luxury homes surrounding a lake, a beautiful downtown area and shops lining the streets this means you have arrived to the city of Lake Oswego. A well-known suburb just outside of Portland; known for its large man-made Oswego lake that lies in the middle of the city. When driving through the city you can tell the cute old distinctions from the new modern touches. The growth has been quite apparent over the years, from the continued homes going up to the updated downtown.
The downtown area has many shops, restaurants and boutiques many of which have been built right next to the lake, meaning great views! Summertime is bustling even more with a weekly Saturday Farmers Market. Great vendors from all over the surrounding area bring their goods, veggies, fruits and wares to sell at this popular market that people travel to from all over the area. One of my favorite booths is the Green Bridge Garden booth from Jefferson, Ore., a family owned and operated farm providing great local produce. Be sure to check them out and tell them Susie says hi!
The overall vibe here is tremendous. People of all ages walking up and down, kids running around, and there is even live music that plays. People can rest their feet and have a snack from the mini doughnut stand or even lunch with a gyro or bratwurst while enjoying live entertainment. Another thing to take note of is the free sample situation. If you like Costco samples you are in for a treat, for example a dixie cup full of fresh kettle popcorn (still hot!) or a slice of fresh goat cheese on a crisp cracker. So yum! Trust me, you want to be here and experience this.
Interested in settling your roots in a Lake Oswego neighborhood? The city is known for its top rated schools, the beautiful lake itself, golf and tennis clubs and nice bike and walking paths. There are neighborhood choices in all price ranges, from condos starting at 300,000 to beautiful estates up to 2 million or higher. My personal favorite neighborhood is called First Addition. Close to downtown and the lake with beautiful architecture both large and quaint homes dating back to the the 1920”s.
