We recently had the honor to work with house-hunters & PDX natives Connor & Emma. Connor is the son of very close college friends of mine which made this home purchase even more special.
In our few meetings prior to starting the home search, Connor and Emma were pretty clear on what they thought they wanted in their future house, which made it so much easier to narrow down neighborhoods. (They went to a lot of Open Houses on their own to figure out their Wants, Needs, Likes & Dislikes!) Many times, first-time buyers don’t really know what they ultimately want until they start walking through various styles of homes. But these two were so prepared that the whole process was a breeze and after showing them only a handful of homes, they found the right one.

We wanted to share their house-hunting story to give other prospective buyers out there hope! In the end, their first offer was accepted because they fell in love with a home that had been sitting on the market a bit which made the sellers more willing to negotiate.
What made you decide to hop into the market?
We had just gotten engaged and wanted to buy a house together before we got married.

Did the rising interest rates affect your decision to begin your home search?
Rising interest rates affected our home search by making us re-evaluate the final purchase price of the home as well as what our down payment could/would be.
How was your experience working with the Moran Homes team in today’s market?
Our experience with Moran homes was awesome! Both Susie and Jamie were incredibly responsive and negotiated with the sellers on our behalf to get us the price we wanted for our home.

What’s your favorite part about your new home and/or neighborhood?
Our favorite part of our new home IS the neighborhood! We have awesome neighbors and feel like this is a wonderful and safe neighborhood to be in.
Any advice for future buyers in today’s market?
Budget for unexpected costs/projects for the house. You may think you like something about a house when you tour it but once you move in you might change your mind!
Thanks for sharing Connor and Emma. And huge congratulations on getting married this week!
If you are thinking about a move in the next year, we are happy to answer any Qs to make your home dreams come true!
