Susie & Matt Know Nob Hill

With the holidays in Portland coming up you’ll probably find yourself out and about on NW 23rd Ave at some point so today we’re exploring some of our favorites in Nob Hill for those on the go!

Eat & Walk: Bing-Mi food cart at 1845 NW 23rd Pl, Portland, OR 97210 (Nob Hill Food Carts)

Let’s say you’re a focused shopper with no time for a sit-down meal. It’s a food cart sorta day and you need a hot handheld wrap to keep you warm while you fill your Santa sack from shop to shop. You simply MUST try a jianbing from Bing Mi: A Chinese savory crepe with egg, bing sauce, green onion, cilantro, zhacai and wonton crackers wrapped inside. It is so extremely tasty and hard to get a more satisfying meal for $8. We haven’t yet been to the sister Bing Mi Dumpling & Noodle Bar but it’s on our To Do list. Report back if you try it!

Shop & Dine: Snow Peak & Takibi at 2275 NW Flanders St. Portland, OR 97210

Stock up on gifts for the glampers in your life at this Japanese-designed outdoor goods and apparel shop Snow Peak. Then head to their attached dining room called Takibi for a fancy cocktail & sashimi by the firepit. (Recently named one of Esquire’s Top 25 Bars in the US (2022) and a Top 50 Restaurant by Portland Monthly (2022))

Dog & Drink: Cycle Dog Tavern & Dog Park at 2056 NW Pettygrove St Portland, OR 97209

What’s the bad part about being out on the town having a good time in holiday festivities with friends? Missing your dog! And now you don’t have to. Cycle Dog Tavern & Dog Park is designed for a night out for people and pooches alike. Let your dog socialize in the off-leash play area while you sip a beer and make a few new furry friends. Daytime dog sitting available too!

Chill: The Float Shoppe at 1515 NW 23rd Avenue Portland, OR 97210

Sometimes we get so caught up in holiday festivities that we run ourselves ragged. That’s why we like to schedule a 90-minute float here and there in a water pod at the Float Shoppe. The quiet, weightlessness of a warm, darkened floating bath feels restorative and provides a much-needed pause in the go-go-going.

In addition to all of these current favorites & shopping/dining hotspots, Nob Hill is a fun area to live in because it has everything you need in walking distance: Parks (Forest Park, Wallace Park), a movie theater (Cinema 21), a library, and groceries (New Seasons, Trader Joe’s). And in case you missed it, Matt has a current listing right in it: A Down-to-the-Studs Custom Reconstructed Bungalow. Give Matt a call (503-781-9646 or moran@windermere.com) if you’d like to tour it in person or check out the video below!
