Your taxes are done (hopefully)… Let’s go eat pizza! The Portland Mercury’s much-loved Pizza Week starts today and features $2 slices all over town. I’ve scoped out the list and here are the slices I look forward to the most:
Southeast: “Classic Pepperoni” at Virtuous Pie. I have never had anything at this plant-based pizzeria that was not perfect.
What’s on it: San Marzano tomato sauce, housemade pepperoni, shredded mozzarella, and EVOO
Northeast: “Spinach Artichoke Dip” at Via Chicago Deep dish!
What’s on it: Old-fashioned spinach artichoke dip
Northwest: “Star Wipe” at the Rogue Pearl Public House
What’s on it: Prosciutto, soppressata, mozzarella, fresh arugula, and shaved asiago cheese.
North: “Spring Fling” at The 1905. Go for the pizza, stay for the live jazz.
What’s on it: Lemon-garlic cream sauce, mozzarella, pickled radishes, mint-English pea purée, and spring onions.
Downtown: “Porchetta and Tomatoes” at Chiosco Pizza Window
What’s on it: Chiosco’s Red Sauce, house-roasted porchetta, roasted cherry tomatoes, and provolone piccante.
