In 2014, southeast Portland’s Richmond Neighborhood was voted one of the top 24 places to live by Sunset Magazine. This is easy to believe as Richmond residents are in easy walking distance to not one but two restaurant hotbeds in the heart of inner Portland. Hawthorne Blvd. on the northern border is the home of Harlow – a vegan paradise with juices and bowls that easily please a health-conscious carnivore. Nearby is the historic Bagdad Theater as well as one of the city’s best happy hours at Gold Dust Meridian. My take-out secret is the sweet, yellow-red curry (Thanh Thao Delight) from Thanh Thao. Division St. bisects Richmond and features the triple crown of Portland dining: Bollywood Theater, Pok Pok and Salt & Straw Ice Cream.
