Luxury living with a network of forest trails in your proverbial backyard – that’s the allure of Portland Heights – a pocket of Portland’s SW Hills with a winding array of historic homes. We have a couple upcoming listings in this picturesque neighborhood so we wanted to spotlight both the fabulous trail system that feels like SW Portland’s best-kept secret as well as give you the mini-tour of our 1924 Exquisite English which just hit the market with Open Houses this weekend. (Plus a sneak peek at a new Mediterranean restaurant opening nearby!)

Lately my dog Bella and I have been getting our daily steps in on the myriad trails of Marquam Nature Park. We park in the tiny lot, not far from the Duniway track, and set out up the initial rocky ascent along a little creek. There are a few different trail options to take once you get about .3 miles in so you can really string together several for an all-day hike or just do 1 or 2 to get that heart rate up. You can’t help but feel envious of all the homes you see peek out here and there as you hike, with their backyards overlooking this majestic forest – a dream locale for daily walks with a furry friend.

And just a half mile from a Marquam Trail trailhead? The 1924 English that just went Live. This gorgeous home – where indoor and outdoor living spaces abound – has been pristinely preserved. Period charm alongside modern upgrades. A chef’s kitchen to prep the ultimate holiday feast to be served in the spacious dining area. This luxury home lives large but remains intimate. The backyard dreamscape boasts a 2nd kitchen with wet bar for enjoying warm, Portland summers. After the parties, adjourn to the Owner’s suite with a cozy fireplace, vaulted ceilings & private deck. For full details see the Listing info here or take the Virtual Tour here.

And finally, … New restaurant alert! Just a couple miles from this lovely home down Vista/ NW 23rd Ave, a new Mediterranean restaurant is soft-opening this weekend and I cannot WAIT to try: Meet Zula.
Zula is a warm and welcoming restaurant in Portland’s Nob Hill neighborhood. Inspired by the bustling, diverse, and international city of Tel Aviv, Zula weaves in elements and flavors of the Mediterranean.

The food & drink menus look divine. Salmon skewers, hummus with a soft-boiled egg, cauliflower salad with radicchio, mint, toasted hazelnuts, sumac vinaigrette?! And their own take on an Aperol Spritz with mango!
If you’d like to sample the Mediterranean magic before the official grand opening on the 17th … Zula will be open from 5-9pm on the 11th, 12th, 15th & 16th.
“Zula,” a word found in both Arabic and Hebrew, is an informal communal space where friends old and new gather together.
