Simpatica consistently makes some of my favorite food in Portland. Situated in Southeast’s Buckman neighborhood, it used to be a supper club-by-night and Sunday brunch spot, but now it’s switched to a private dining hall that can be booked for special occasions. (Holds up to 55 people for a dinner!) Simpatica delights in seasonal fare sourced from local farms. (Tomato jam! Bavette steak!) And if you miss the walk-in Sunday brunch ways of the past, pop in to one of the other restaurants owned by the same people: Ate-Oh-Ate, Reverend’s BBQ or Laurelhurst Market. They are all fabulous.
