We wait through months of mist and gray for this moment—and let me tell you, it’s always worth it. Portland summer arrives with long days, warm nights, and a city that feels like it’s throwing a party in every neighborhood. I love this time of year—the buzz in the streets, the sound of live music drifting from the parks, the beer gardens, the parades.
Here’s my personal guide to the best festivals in Portland this summer. Some are big, some are hyper-local, but all are part of what makes this city so special.

Neighborhood Vibes
Street fairs are where Portland’s personality really shines. Local makers, live music, food carts, and friendly faces—there’s no better way to explore a neighborhood.

- Mississippi Street Fair – July 12
- Montavilla Street Fair – July 27
- Hawthorne Street Fair – August 17
- Belmont Street Fair – September 14
The Classics

- Thru June 8
- Parades, dragon boats, CityFair on the waterfront—it’s a Portland staple for a reason.
- July 4 – 7
- Live blues on the river with fireworks over the city? Yes, please.

Cheers to Beers

🍺 Portland Craft Beer Festival
- July 4 – 6
- Beer brewed right here in Portland. Kick back with a cold one and soak in the summer.
Music + Culture
🎤 Kickstand Comedy in the Park
- Now thru September 5
- Bring a blanket and a picnic and plop down to laugh at some of Portland’s funniest comedians as they perform under the majestic trees of Laurelhurst Park!

🎻 Chamber Music Northwest Summer Festival
June 23 – July 28
World-class musicians, intimate venues, and music that pairs perfectly with a Portland sunset. This year’s theme is Echoes of Bach. “Join us for a Bach-inspired Summer Festival that features a few of his most dazzling works alongside dozens of other masterpieces by composers from Bach’s era to today—all echoing his timeless brilliance!”
🚴 Pedalpalooza aka Bike Summer
- All Summer
- Hundreds of themed bike rides all over town. Disco rides, costume rides—you name it. Pure Portland joy.
- Pick a ride to join here.

Community Favorites
🏳️🌈 Portland Pride Festival & Parade
- June 14 – 15
- Downtown fills with love, color, and celebration. One of the happiest weekends of the year.

🎈 Festival of Balloons – Tigard
- June 20 – 22
- Sunrise balloon launches and carnival fun. Get up early—it’s worth it.

Family-Friendly Fun
- July 10 – August 22
- Free concerts and outdoor movies in Portland parks. Pack snacks and a blanket and go enjoy.

That’s my go-to list for soaking up every last bit of summer in the city. I’ll be out there—from the street fairs to the waterfront—with my sunglasses, a blanket, and maybe a pint in hand. Hope to see you around!
