Most Portlanders have their special restaurants they’ll occasionally cross the river for but Portland’s vibrant foodie scene makes it easier than ever to appreciate the dining destination in your own backyard. For me, I have spent many years and many walks with multiple dogs exploring my own neighborhood of Ladd’s Addition/ Colonial Heights in SE Portland. My days here are numbered with my home currently on the market so here are a few of my recent favorites and old standbys I find myself returning to time and time again:
For those seeking an upscale culinary experience, Quaintrelle is a hidden gem. Their tasting menu is a gastronomic journey, showcasing the finest ingredients prepared with creative flair. Each dish is a work of art:

On the other hand, if you’re in the mood for some laid-back indulgence, Jacqueline’s happy hour is a must-visit. The oysters on their back patio are a delicacy that can’t be missed. Sip on a refreshing cocktail while you soak in the sun, and you’ll understand why this spot is so beloved by locals.

Seafood magic continues at fast-casual SeaSweets Poke for a protein-packed bowl of salmon! My go-to lunch:

Pizza enthusiasts will find their heaven at Scottie’s Pizza, where the sourdough thin crust and inventive toppings are a real treat. Pair it with a local craft beer for the perfect combo.

Little T Baker, known for its artisanal bread and pastries, is a delightful stop for breakfast or brunch. The aroma of freshly baked goods wafting through the air is simply irresistible.
The sweet tooth continues at Fifty Licks Ice Cream and Champagne Poetry Patisserie where jaw-dropping, photo-ready French-Asian desserts await your special occasion gifting or afternoon coffee.

Wine lovers, rejoice! Bar Norman is a wine bar with an extensive selection and a relaxed atmosphere. Sip on a glass of your favorite vintage and unwind with friends. Bar Norman is Meg (my daughter) and Josh’s favorite wine bar and they even had their engagement photos taken there!

Last but not least, Oma’s Hideaway is a neighborhood favorite known for its cozy setting and inventive cocktails. It’s the perfect place to end your culinary journey in Colonial Heights and Ladd’s Addition.
