For the perfect blend of natural beauty and urban convenience, the South Tabor neighborhood is hard to beat. Lush parks (and stunning views from Mount Tabor) are a short distance from dining, groceries, schools and great public transportation. Here are some of my favorite spots in this area of Southeast Portland that appeals to both outdoor enthusiasts and PDX foodies alike. Mt Tabor – The King of Parks! It’s one of the first things I like to locate from the plane when I fly into PDX because it towers over the city skyline. An extinct volcano covered in thousands of trees is a favorite sunset spot and my dog Bella loves the giant off-leash dog park. Lighted tennis courts and miles of running/hiking trails offer ample exercise opportunities right in the proverbial front yard of South Tabor.

Clinton City Park – Tennis courts and sports fields offer an expansive green space fit for frisbee, futbol & Fido!

Proximity to Montavilla neighborhood (To the east of Mt Tabor – Montavilla Farmers Market, Flying Pie Pizza, Academy Theater, Miyamoto Sushi)

Groceries at Green Zebra, Fred Meyer & New Seasons (on Hawthorne) and Winco and Fubonn (on 82nd Ave)
